During the colonial time, the silver extraction in the Cerro Rico of Potosi, transformed this city into the biggest in America with more than 160,000 inhabitants; then, everything was opulence and exquisite churches and elegant mansions were built and conspicuous architects and celebrated artists arrived.
The Huayna Potosí (6,080 m.a.s.l.), it’s located to 25 Km. from La Paz. It is the converged mountain. Its normal route is easily accessible for the highway La Paz - Zongo.
The Huayna Potosí unites the line of the Real mountain range for a smaller but more abrupt chain of picks. The Huayna Potosí presents a special attractiveness, an aesthetic attraction for the mountaineer. In these last years, the normal road has been climbed hundreds of times by season, what is comparable to the Huascarán in the White Mountain range of Peru.
